About the Amazon Rainforest
Since the 1950s, Brazil has been facing natural disasters in the Amazon as well as its coastal regions with many floods, with the worst one being in 2008 in Santa Catarina. Due to the flooding and landslides during this time, more than 86 people passed away. The rain mainly occurred in late November, but the past two months before that, there was much heavy rainfall as well. This was definitely not the first instance of a horrific flood in Brazil and most certainly not the last. Furthermore, these environmental issues have shown to impact the Amazon. This is because these environmental issues result in changing temperatures, deforestation, destruction of natural habitats, etc. It then can further impact the biodiversity of the region as well. Many indigenous people also rely on the Amazon and it becomes an extremely dangerous issue when the Amazon gets damaged. In the past, there have been many efforts to rebuild damaged areas and try to recover what has been lost, but with little success.
